This site will be redeveloped into a new state of the art retail and leisure destination in the core of town centre’ and civic quarter. In 2018, the Council purchased Crompton Place Shopping Centre to redevelop Bolton Victoria Square.

Progress to Date

The £175m scheme offers an abundance of opportunity to re-energise and refresh the town centre and improving connections and pedestrian flow to the surrounding areas. The development is set to bring revitalisation for the area as well as real long-term benefits for the people of Bolton.

Bolton Council, with the support of local MPs, has submitted a bid for the government’s Levelling Up Fund, the bid can be viewed below.  If successful, it could secure £16.2m towards the ongoing redevelopment of Crompton Place.

The money would be used towards the demolition and redevelopment of the west side of the building, creating new employment space to bring professional service jobs and greater footfall into the town centre. Find out more.
